It’s been another action packed week here in the primary school @ ISP, culminating in today’s annual ‘Pink Friday’ fund raiser for National Cancer Society Malaysia. Congratulations to everyone who helped organise the day – including the PTA, the secondary ambassadors, and everyone who brought in cakes for the bake sale. A special mention goes to children in Year 6 who planned and organised stalls themselves, raising well over RM2000 between them! A whole-school total will be shared with you next week once the counting is complete, and we look forward to presenting this to NCSM.

On Wednesday this week we held our first ever swim meet at the new pool, and it was a great success as we welcomed students and parents over from Alice Smith. Mr Ivan reports that many PBs were broken – congratulations to everyone who took part.

Some breaking sports news from today – both our primary and secondary teams were named KLISS cross country champions! This is a fantastic achievement – our first sports trophy of the new year – and one that our 60+ primary pumas and their older school mates should be very proud of. Well done to you all.

This week has been our first of six PSHE Weeks in Primary, on the theme of ‘making healthy choices’. PSHE stands for ‘Personal, Social & Health Education’ and is part of our COALS programme in school. You can find out more about PSHE here. Many different activities have been taking place in year groups this week, including Year 2 making healthy lunches for various members of staff. Thank you to the six children from 2LS who made my healthy lunch on Thursday – it was delicious!

As you will no doubt be aware, next week is a very important one for everyone at the school as we welcome three inspectors from the UK visiting us as part of our International Schools Quality Mark (ISQM) accreditation. I have no doubt they will be very impressed with what they see, and look forward to receiving their feedback about how we can continue to develop and improve over the coming years. Parents – please refer to Mr Dalton’s email earlier today for more details about the ISQM visit.
Next week is our final one before our mid-term break, during which many of our families and staff will be celebrating Deepavali. On Friday next week we will be having a celebration day, including a special assembly in the afternoon. Everyone is encouraged to come in Deepavali clothes for the day!
Notices and reminders: In the interests of student health and safety, we would like to remind parents that students are not allowed to bring in cup noodles since these require filling with boiling water, presenting a potential hazard to themselves and other students. Also, please do not use any toilet that has signage indicating it is for students. There are adult toilets at several different locations around the school. Many thanks for your help.
Have a lovely weekend with your families and see you on Monday!
